Default Whopper? or there's a better choice

Hi all,

I'm about to buy a board, but I'm not really sure about the right choice.
I am thinking about a Whopper, but I'm 5'8" and 158 pounds... so, it's the whopper too big for me or it's a right choice?... more details, I'm newbie at sup, but I kitesurf, surf... and the water conditions here in Mallorca are normally little choppy, onshore waves.

Help me out please!

Thanks a lot.

You will do well on the Hero.
But with your weight you could easily
step down. What is your style of surfing?

I normally surf with a kind of bear fat wombat, 6'6...
another reason to go for the whopper is that I want a single board for everything, both wave and some cruising... The Hero works for cruising too?

I like the bear fat wombat.
It has a similar profile as
the Hero and the Whopper,
2-1 set up.
So you are a back foot surfer
and like to throw the board around a bit.
Definitely the Hero or the 8'5" X 29-1/2" Pro for that.
But for cruising you will need a different board.
The Whopper is a lot of board for your weight,
but because of the buoyancy it might be ok for cruising
with a big center fin. Still the width at 34" and heavy rocker it will have
a lot of glide resistance.
All of the above boards have yah,
a tendency to move off point with each paddle stroke.

You might want to start with a 9'8" Element, surfs good and has decent glide and point.
If you can Demo some boards you will get a feel for the different boards.

Thanks a lot for the info; unfortunately, here in Mallorca there's no big mood about SUP and that's why is almost impossible to test different boards.

Thaks again, and for sure i'll visit you next time I go to L.A.
