Starboard Positioned to Lead 2012 Stand Up World Tour

As the winter swells return to Sunset Beach on the North Shore of Oahu, Hawaii, so does Starboard as the exclusive board brand and partner for the season premiere Sunset Beach Pro which kicks off the 2012 Stand Up World Tour (February 4th-14th).

After a stand-out performance and taking first place in last year’s final event of the 2011 tour, Starboard Elite rider, and Maui’s own, Zane Schweitzer will be looking to carry that momentum into this season’s opener. In addition to the high caliber pros competing from around the world, you can expect strong performances from Starboard’s Elite class of riders: Sean Poynter (USA), Dave Muir (AUS), Tama Audibert (Tahiti) and new to the surf tour this year will be world class stand up paddle board race pro Connor Baxter (USA). Each Starboard athlete will bring their own unique blend of riding style, personality, and fierce competitive spirit to highlight this event.

It is the unpredictable nature of this event that sets it apart. Will the surf be monstrous or epic? Will it be a seasoned pro or a relative new-comer that will rise to the podium?
