OLLIE O'REILLY

From Foils to the new Serenity line, unbeatable race designs to radical Pro shapes, to the 1st plant based Bio resin in mass production to recycling EPS from ocean waste; Starboard’s 2017 line presents a paradigm shift in technology, design and sustainability.

We introduce Pine Tek with windsurfing options and our newest premium entry-level technology; Starlite, featuring scratch proof Carbon Innegra rails and Carbon Stringers at incredible value. Carbon models are now lighter than ever, while Hybrid Carbon i s upgraded with a full S-Glass construction.

Our shapes have greatly evolved. All Star’s are unbeatable, the 21.5” Sprint is proven the fastest 14’0” board in the world, while the Ace remains the choppy water champ. Touring makes exploring smooth, silent and fast. Narrow Pro outlines with innovations in tail shapes and the launch of the Pro XL set the standard in surfing. The Serenity Yoga offers stability, while new SUP Kids Sprint and All Star carve the way for the young groms.

Striving for Innovation and Quality goes further though. Challenging conventional materials with substitutes whether it’s bio, natural or recycled is a step to reduce our impact on the environment. Our partnership with Sustainable Surf and the Eco Board Project encourages others, while collaborations with Parley, Watertrek, SUPKids push us to go further. Organizing the first Trash Hero Bangkok Clean Up demonstrated that direct action makes a difference and spreads the awareness for change. My passion for the ocean and for SUP is ignited by this challenge for a cleaner and healthier future.

NIMIT

Nimit continues to surprise with innovative ways to build our prototype paddles and boards. He also develops his own tools, furthering the efficiency of manufactuing. A true master of his trade.

ALBERT PIJOAN

We worked all year long trying to redefine our products, trying to maximize their performance and raise the quality with endless efforts. The direction of the 2017 inflatable boards went to optimize the use of the materials and control the stretching lines reaching a level of stiffness never seen before. Dealing with the natural plasticity of these materials together with the rigidity of pure Carbon fiber and reducing the weight is the result of amazing team work.

The youngest generation of boards has once again had its technology upgraded and will allow you to fit in a regular bag, is easy to pump and glides into the wide open ocean as never before. Time to enjoy the efforts!

MATHIEU RAUZIER

A Brighter Future

The Group has taken on a very important focus this year: Having fun in the water and making sure to be on the best possible gear should not be at all cost, it should imply being careful about the origin and impact of each component we use in the process.

Starboard did a massive R&D job searching for new materials to reduce Carbon footprint of all products while keeping properties and performance uncompromised. This proves to the world that reducing footprints doesn’t mean going backwards, it just requires re-thinking everything!!

Not so easy, I agree, but inventing and re-inventing is what we are passionate about!! I am prouder than ever to be part of this bright future.

Perseverance:

Measure, control, check, analyze, test…
Modify and do it again, and again…

We had many little things to understand and modify with our paddles in order to really upgrade the range and offer once again a high end product that looks good, feels good and lasts longer. We have gone to great lengths to provide you with an upgraded Enduro blade shape, an overall better adjustable paddle and a lighter, more efficient Tufskin blade. You can be confident to get out and paddle as much as possible, whether you’re enjoying the adrenaline of white water, the calm of a hidden lake or the thrill of a wave.

SCOTT MCKERCHER

Starboard Ongoing Development.

Since the inception of Starboard, there’s been a constant drive for the evolution and improvement of every aspect of the range.

With boards, you’d think there has to be a point where you can’t go any further, after so many years. The smallest of changes can have have such a dramatic effect in design and testing, that it never ceases to amaze me and proves I know nothing. But you can only figure out by trying.

In Quality Control (QC) this is also relevant, maintaining that designs are as they were once tested, thus the intensive QC checks at the factory, to make sure the rockers and rails are as they once were.

Once again the product is a result of the entire PRO team and those back in the office. Svein, Mat, Ollie, Mr.Nimit, Pracha,Tee and Dong, all work tirelessly to get prototypes made in time so flights can be made in order to catch a swell or weather map.

Sometimes you’re right, sometimes you’re wrong, and for this reason the ability to be able to experiment has truly been a blessing, which is then passed onto the customer who inherits everyone’s work with the pleasure of riding the best there can be.

AROON SINGH

TIKI’s Smile ☺

It’s a simple theory, if we stop to run, somebody else will move forward and leave us behind.

Starboard never stops running. 2017 is starting with an Eco-friendly concept. Reduce, Reuse and Recycle as much as we can. Reduce the one time use of plastic packaging with the paper, selecting reusable materials, drinking with a glass cup, not plastic, and recycling all the polymer products, even the EPS on the board. We are trying to use Bio resin as well and for the local area, we are the leaders of TRASH HERO Event in Bangkok, Thailand. We do it because we want to see the world is as Green as it once was, that the ocean as blue as it once was so the human smile returns. Come run with us, with Green Tiki Smiles.

PRACHA

Pracha heads our CNC department while bringing his experience from building surf boards and Airush race boards into the ongoing deveopment program. He is also a supporter of the nature protection program which Starboard is launching in Myanmar.

THE CREW

Our workshop crew are hands down the most dedicated, committed
and skilled shapers in the industry. Their ability to keep up with
the pace of development fuels Starboard’s innovation. Huge thanks
to Pop, Kob and Tee for their hard work and loyalty, working day
and night to get the job done to perfection and always with a smile.
Special thanks to Tee for his involvement in shaping the new
kids program and to see him and Ex become the best paddlers
in Thailand. Innovation and quality is not possible from one single
person, it requires the team’s input to deliver every year.
