Iballa Moreno, Spain and European SUP SURF Champion!
The First edition of the “European SUP Surfing Championshio” took place last weekend in the north of Spain, Somo Beach. A perfect place for surfing with the best set up to have an international event like this.
Starboard Team Rider Iballa Moreno won this first edition of European SUP surfing Championship. With a battle between French and Spanish girls, Iballa won heat by heat. In the final, the Caroline Augibaud (FR) was close at the beginning of the heat with an 8 points score, but Iballa soon took a combination of waves of 10 points and 9 points,19 points total out of 20, surfing very powerful and with an incredible style, leaving the rest of the girls battling for the second, third and fourth place.
Iballa: After the summer and my windsurfing season I started training hard with teammate Vilayta, and gave me a bit more of confidence in the water…also surfing on my new Starboard 7’4×25.5 since two weeks, witch make me feel real surf on the SUP! The waves were great fun with a little bit of offshore wind. Im super happy with my results!
Congratulations to Iballa for winning this European Tittle only one week after becoming also Spanish SUP champion!!! Thanks to to council of Ribamontan al Mar, the Goverment of Cantabria and the sponsors Starboard and Surf School of Cantabria was possible for the Surfing Federation of Cantabria to organize such an amazing event.
